Meeting and greeting We
will be on hand to meet you when you arrive, show you round, and give you the
keys.
Hot water and appliances This
is switched on at the fuse box in the corner on your left as you enter the
gîte. The switch is marked Hot water. Make sure also that the switch on the
same row furthest to the right is on 1 and not auto or 0, and that the master
switch in the top row furthest to the left is also switched on. Should you need them, there are instructions
for appliances in one of the kitchen drawers.
Water There is a sodastream in
the gîte so you can carbonate the tap water. There’s no need therefore to buy
bottled water unless you want to.
Locking back and front sets of doors Pull
the first of the two doors closed and push the handle right down into the
vertical position. Pull the second door closed, turn the handle upwards to the
vertical and turn the key towards the other door.
Shutters and fans When
the weather is hot, try not to open windows and doors too much - the
traditional thick walls mean that the gîte stays cool – which you will
especially appreciate at night time. We
have also provided a fan for each bedroom.
Linen, towels, pool towels All
linen, and towels for indoor use, are provided. We also provide towels for you
to use by the pool.
Recyclable rubbish Plastic
bottles, metal and cardboard – unsorted - can all be recycled in yellow bins
situated on the corner of rue Edouard Vairette and impasse Victor Batut, by the
municipal tennis courts. Newspapers are put in the blue bin, and glass in the
green bin marked Verre. Take the avenue de Revel, going towards Carrefour and Intermarché
supermarkets, and just past the gendarmerie turn left at the sign to “Crabille
la Nouvelle”.
Non-recyclable rubbish
There
is one collection a week for non-recyclable rubbish on Tuesdays around
lunchtime. Take your sealed rubbish bags to the top of the drive and leave in one
the bins by the Pépoulie sign.
Breakages Please
make a note of any breakage so we can replace things promptly.
Furniture and equipment We
have provided wicker chairs which you are welcome to use outdoors – please
bring them inside at night and in bad weather. There are also two tables and
ten fold up chairs provided for outdoor use, which can remain at the front and
back of the gîte. (Please do not move the easy chairs or dining room table
outside).
You
will find cleaning equipment, an iron and ironing board beneath the kitchen
sink and in the cupboard under the stairs.
Feel
free to borrow any of the maps, guides, books and games we have provided.
Septic tank If we are away during your
stay please add a sachet of Eparcyl once a week per one to four persons to the
toilet whilst flushing so as to keep the septic tank sweet. You will find a box of this under the kitchen
sink.
Please
only use toilet cleaners that work with septic tanks (it will say something
like compatible fosses septiques on the container). If you do not, it
will stop the Eparcyl doing its job.
And
to avoid blockages, please don’t flush way anything other than toilet paper.
Internet Bring your laptop or tablet and get free high speed wireless internet access by connecting to the network named roger. The password is qwerty14.
Satellite TV As
well as French TV channels, we now have satellite TV in the gîte and house with
all BBC, ITV and Four channels (but not Scandinavian ones unfortunately).
To
get to the satellite channels, do this:
Press the Power button on the Samsung remote to switch on the TV,
and press Source, the button with a square and arrow entering it from the left,
in the middle of the remote. Scroll down and press HDMI/DVI. Switch on the
Freesat Manhattan remote, and press the Guide button. Scroll down the list to
choose the channel you want, then press OK.
Flowers We
would much appreciate it if you could water and deadhead the flowers in pots at
the front and rear of the gîte during your stay.
Logs for the wood-burning stove in
winter for guests on long term lets
We
can supply these at two euros per basket.
Pets Sorry, no pets.
Handover days Saturday
is the handover day, and we ask departing guests to leave by 09.30 latest, and
arriving ones to be here no earlier than 16.00.
Please strip the beds and leave bedlinen and towels on the landing as we
will collect these for washing after your departure. It would be helpful if you
could remove any leftover food from the fridge, freezer and cupboards as we always
clean these out for new arrivals.
